Encorp on microgrid radar; player in reforming world's energy infrastructure

FORT COLLINS, COLO. - Nov. 14, 2011 - Encorp LLC, a distributed energy control company headquartered in Fort Collins, Colo., continues to influence the future of the New Energy Economy by sharing its microgrid expertise at several nationally-recognized, microgrid-focused workshops.

In August, Encorp participated in the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) FY12 Microgrid Planning Workshop in San Diego. Encorp was among DOE's Top 50 most influential companies in the microgrid market selected to participate in the workshop and co-chair two sessions. Those sessions included 'Microgrid Switch Technologies' with the National Renewable Energy Lab (NREL) and 'System Design and Economic Analysis Tools' with Sandia National Laboratory. The DOE Smart Grid Research and Development Program will use outcomes from the high-level event to guide its future microgrid development efforts.

Encorp also attended the Energy Systems Integration Facility (ESIF) Workshop in October hosted by NREL in Golden, Colo. The invite-only event unveiled the final plans and capabilities of the ESIF, which is the nation's first partnering facility able to conduct integrated megawatt-scale research, development and testing. The purpose of the event was to seek input on the research and development agenda and explore best practices for working with NREL to achieve the shared goal of transforming the nation's energy system to be more efficient and powered primarily by clean energy sources.

On Dec. 13, Encorp will chair a microgrid-focused panel at POWER-GEN International in Las Vegas, the world's largest power generation show. This is the seventh year in a row that Encorp has served on the planning committee and played a crucial role in determining conference topics. Encorp's session titled 'Building Blocks of Onsite Power: Microgrids and Distributed Generation' will explore progressive and more conventional microgrid applications from perspectives of the end user, project developer and technology provider.

In early August, Encorp attended GovEnergy's 'River of Energy Solutions' tradeshow and collaborated with the nation's leading experts in policy, technology and facility operations to address challenges of federal energy management.

Encorp also recently participated in the 34th annual World Energy Engineering Congress (WEEC) in Chicago, which is considered throughout the energy industry as the most significant national and international event for end users and energy professionals in all areas of the energy field.

"Encorp has been microgridding™ for decades and continues to grow its well-regarded position as a leader in the nation's New Energy Economy," said Michael Clark, Encorp's senior vice president. "Our goal is to deploy the microgrid platform as the cost effective means to increase power reliability for campus-like environments - federal, institutional and commercial - that want to obtain net zero energy status. These microgrid-focused events are industry drivers that impact the direction of the microgrid market. We're honored to be a part of these collaborations during this monumental time of transition in the world's energy infrastructure."
