FORT COLLINS, COLO.-Encorp, whose software and hardware products allow companies to simultaneously and in real time monitor, control and manage energy equipment at many locations, recently strengthened its sales force with the appointment of Darrell A. Struss as its southwestern regional sales manager.

Struss is a management-level executive with diverse domestic and international experience. At Encorp, Struss will oversee sales in the southwestern United States, Central America, Latin America and South America.

Encorp products improve energy savings, reduce maintenance costs, boost equipment performance and lower operating costs. The company's Generator Power Control - or "Gold Box™" -- is the heart of many on-site power systems. The Gold Box™, which is the world's first truly integrated generator controller, allows operators to remotely control and communicate with various engines, generators and the local utility. It integrates the functionality of several discrete electrical components into a single solid-state assembly.

Encorp digital-paralleling switchgear and Microgrid Secure™ software also are key components of on-site power systems. They allow operators to remotely dispatch, aggregate and control power generators and to interconnect on-site power plants with the utility or operate it solely as back-up power.

Thoughout his 30-year career, Struss has held progressively challenging positions in sales and operational management, with more than 15 years working in the energy industry. Prior to his appointment at Encorp, Struss drove General Electric's Mexico sales up 40 percent in one year while serving as GE's Mexico manager. During his five years at GE, Struss continually boosted sales of his region as much as 75 percent above target levels.

Struss's career includes a long list of international experience. During his 11 years at Automatic Switch Company, an emergency-power switching and distribution equipment manufacturer, he helped the company grow its regional and district sales 10 percent to 30 percent each year, and expand into Latin America and the Caribbean.

As division manager of Compufac Corp's start- up Catalytic Conditioning System Division from 1990-92, Struss developed organizational business and marketing plans for water and wastewater treatment equipment. He successfully negotiated trial programs with six target accounts, and established data programs for performance tracking, start-up and long-term budgets, and promotional documentation.

He holds a bachelor's degree in Industrial Technology from Texas A&M University and has completed numerous post graduate education and certification courses. Struss also served seven years as a U.S. Army captain.
